What's new with me! Life Update

Hey, so it's been a really long time since I've blogged really at all! It's been a crazy few weeks, you know the whole I'm in uni I'm not palava. Honestly, I'm pretty nervous about it. Results day could not come fast enough! The first exam went really well, it was the dispensing practical. So I was finding the prescription and fitting details of bifocal and varifocal specs. I got a smashing 80% can not believe it! It set me in good paces for the next few written ones, which got me a little anxy but I think I did ok. We'll just have to wait and see now.

A few months back I applied to be in the Miss Wales competition. I can not believe I actually got through for an interview and then, even more unbelievably I got through to the final! I'm so excited to get to know the girls from the interviews, where we we're all so nervous and focused we barely got a chance to chat. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, a few of my friends have entered before. One of my amazing friends won Miss Cardiff and another gorgeous girl got the title of Miss Wales 2014! So, no pressure hahaha. I'm really looking forward to what comes next, we've got our official photographs coming on Wednesday which will be exciting. Feel like a real life model haha. Then our wedge walk around Cardiff bay barrage, that's 3 miles in heels! Of course, I rushed straight out and got a pair of beautiful blue wedges so I could break them in for the day. New shoe blisters would not be fun! That's on the 10th of September, so if you fancy coming along and showing some support I'll post more details soon. (Guys, you gotta heel up to! No es-cap-e!) I'd love all your support, if you'd like to follow the events click here for Facebook!

I love competitions, I always wondered how other people kept winning stuff. Was there some lucky underwear shop that I hadn't heard of? Or some ritual dance that you needed to do? Nope, you literally just have to be in it to win it. So every time something pops up that I think I'd like to be a part of, I sign my name up. Sure enough, I was the Welsh finalist for the propercorn competition last month. My flavour didn't go down quite as well as I thought it would. I mean who doesn't love plantain?! My Caribbean people, can I get an amen! I guess when you pair it with ginger, spring onion and the likes of seaweed - it could turn a few people off. Salted honeycombe from Ireland took popcorn fans by storm and I'm secretly really looking forward to it hitting the shelves so I can try for myself. Salted caramel is delicious, so I see this. Good eyes, or rather tongue Ireland!
Propercorn we're so kind and sent me my own flavour making kit to toy with. Literally a kid in a candy store, now exams are over I can crack it out and see what other weird flavours I can concoct.

After this small victory, I saw another competition on twitter for 'NothingBut' snacks. They freeze dry beetroot and parsnip slices, for a really lite and healthy bite. I actually won 50 bags, whut?! Over the moon, they arrived in quick time and are a treat.

Post exams, I took a trip to London to visit my uncle. Mum, auntie and I spent the weekend with Mr T eating everything in site and more. Walking endless amounts and hitting the top spots, China town, Hyde park and even Nottinghill festival! The weather was on our side and we sweated our way along the underground to Buckingham Palace gardens and Borough market. Where the food was POPPING. I'll upload a vlog of it soon. I've literally just got back, unpacked my goods and about to head for the shower. I'm so sticky, it's pretty gross. But I just wanted to share with you guys, where I'm at and what's been going on. Phew, I'm exhausted! Now I can play catch up a little with blogging, videos, singing, cooking, and anything else that takes my fancy! You guys remember my lovely blogger friend Nok right? We'll we've spoke about doing some cool cooking videos, because who likes reading? Hahaha. So excited to get cracking on that, she's been so patient waiting until after my exams, what a gem. She's been finishing up her dentistry too, so look out YouTube! First things first though, I've got a year book to finish. Part of my duties as Vice-President of the society last year was to create merchandise including the year book for the final years. Of course, having such a fuzzy head and such a big project was extremely daunting last term. Now my heads back in the game, I'm ready to create some arrtt!

P.S my crazy boyfriend also talked me into doing the Cardiff half. Yeah that. I've started training, quit smoking (hallelujah!) and am on my way. Right now my goal is to finish. I'd love to come in under 2 hours, but finish would be fantastic! If you'd like to donate, click here to read my Just-Giving story!

Until next time... Erica xo
